The Accra Region Police have arrested Kwasi Ahiadalakpa, a 50-year-old blacksmith for illegally manufacturing local guns.

The police said, on July 4, 2013 at about 5.00am, personnel from the Regional Police Command acting upon tip-off proceeded to Adeiso in the Eastern Region and arrested the suspect, Kwasi Ahiadalakpa.

DCOP Christian Tetteh Yohonu, Accra Regional Police Commander, speaking to the press on Sunday, said a search conducted in his warehouse led to the recovery of several locally manufactured guns.

The police uncovered ten locally manufactured SB shot guns, five locally manufactured pistols, assorted tools used in the manufacturing of weapons, seven empty cartridges, four live cartridges and 5 un-assembled SB shot guns.

DCOP Yohonu said upon interrogations, Kwasi Ahiadalakpa claimed ownership of the weapons and said he was a licensed blacksmith, but has failed to produce the licence.
