Police arrest 33 at ‘ashowo and wee’ joints

The Tarkwa Divisional Police Command in collaboration with the Western Regional Security Council (REGSEC) on Wednesday raided the Tarkwa Railways area and arrested 33 suspected criminals.

The suspects include commercial sex workers, drug peddlers, criminals and some persons suspected to be engaging in other illegal activities in the Tarkwa Nsuaem Municipal Assembly.

Tarkwa Divisional Police Commander, Assistant Commissioner of Police Paul Ayertey told Adom News, the suspects are made up of 11 female sex workers and 22 males.

ACP Ayertey indicated that an identification parade will be conducted on the suspects after which they will be arraigned before a court.

Meanwhile, Tarkwa Nsuaem Municipal Assembly has commended the police for their efforts in raiding the area of criminals.

Public Relations Officer Mrs. Babbie Annan-Nunoo urged the public to cooperate with the police by volunteering vital information that could lead to the arrest of those involved in unlawful activities.
