Police arrest 17 suspected criminals

Seventeen suspected robbers and drug peddlers including Ahmed Tijani, who has been on the police wanted list for some time now for robbery, have been arrested in a police swoop in Kumasi.

A locally manufactured pistol and two live ammunition, machete, cellular phone batteries and leaves suspected to be cannabis were retrieved from Tijani.

The suspects were picked up from their hideouts at Amakom-Obosamgyamu and Anloga Fante New Town.

This followed complaints by residents in these areas about their criminal activities.

The Ashanti Regional Police Commander, Mr Patrick Timbillah, told a press briefing in Kumasi that the exercise would be sustained to arrest miscreants bent on making life uncomfortable for law abiding citizens.

The Police Commander advised those involved in criminal activities to reform in their own interest or face the wrath of the law.

The suspects are being screened and would soon be put before the court to answer for their crimes.
