Takoradi, Jan. 16, GNA – Personnel of the Ghana Police Service have been advised to be vigilant, fair and honest in the discharge of their duties.
“Without these characters, it would be difficult for the public to develop special interests in the service”.
Mr George Asiamah, Western Regional Police Commander gave the advise in an annual end of year get-together for the personnel of the service within the Sekondi-Takorad at Takoradi on Saturday.
He said though 10-armed robbers were arrested and sentenced to prison terms of seven to 20 years, they must double their efforts.
Mr Asiamah said the metropolis must be safe, free from terror and facilitate free movement of goods and people.
He thanked personnel of the service for the roles they played in ensuring that the 2004 general elections were peaceful, incident free and fair.
Mr Asiamah said the Police administration last year spent 500 million cedis to convert an existing pan latrine toilet to water closet.
He appealed to personnel to eliminate corruption from their mists, adding that, the service would not be lenient on anyone found “to be engaged in the practice.”
Mr Asiamah thanked the media for the collaborative role it played in the elections and the cordial relationship that exists between them and other security agencies.
