Police Advise Traders

The Police on Tuesday asked traders and sellers to register with banks. This would help reduce robberies and attacks on traders, a statement issued in Accra by the Police said.

It said some petty traders are robbers who seek to steal from the public.

“Assume that anyone around you is a potential criminal and be mindful of movement of those round you, regardless of their friendliness,” the statement said.

The statement asked women to be mindful of errand boys and children, who sell ice water or rubber bags, and not to allow them into their shops or malls, because they could be used as agents for stealing.

Such children, the statement said, think like adult criminals, because they have been briefed.

“All must suspect the unsuspected and expect the unexpected to enable us avert crime.”

It said the first thing to do when one finds himself or herself in a crowd is to ensure the safety of her money by grabbing it firmly, adding that if possible, such areas should be avoided.
