Koforidua, Nov. 28, GNA – The Parent-Teacher-Association (PTA) of the Pope John Secondary and Junior Seminary at Effiduase-Koforidua, on Saturday handed over a 1.2 billion-cedi two-storey dormitory to the school.

It was funded from a levy of parents over a five-year period to provide accommodation for over 500 out of the about 2, 000 students. The Chairman of the PTA, Nana Kofi Adjei Twinin, explained that it was the believe of the Association that the government alone could not provide all facilities needed for the training of their children and were prepared to support by providing a congenial atmosphere for the students and the staff.

He said that the second phase of the project was to provide staff bungalows to accommodate more teachers to help promote discipline in the school.

The PTA also had plans to motivate the hardworking staff to encourage them to make the school one of the best in the country. The Headmaster, Mr Paul Ofori-Atta, commended the PTA for the gesture and said the completion of the project was a great relief to the authorities in their effort to accommodate more students on the campus.
