Poisonous fumes kill 2 miners, 8 injured

Two miners have died after they inhaled poisonous fumes from mining explosives at Gbani, a mining community in the Talensi District in the Upper East region.

Eight other miners who are suffering various injuries have been rushed to the hospital for treatment.

The two victims, Thomas Baasi and Ebenezer Atia and the other eight miners were trapped in the pit after the poisonous substance had been used to break up the mine.

The bodies of the deceased have been deposited at the regional hospital for autopsy.
