PNC Won?t Support Any Party

?Dr. Mahama Declares

In an apparent expression of disillusionment for playing the second fiddle in three successive elections, the presidential candidate of the People?s National Convention (PNC), Dr. Edward Mahama has now resolved not to support either of the two leading parties in the event of an electoral deadlock in the December 2004 polls.

Sounding very confident, Dr. Mahama said his party would win the first round but if he is rejected this time round, that would mean the people of Ghana have passed a vote of no confidence in his party. As a result, he said he would have no moral justification to tell them what to do or who to support in an electoral run-off that does not include his party.

Dr. Mahama said if he is not third time lucky and loses the December 2004 elections, it would also mean he is insignificant and therefore his views on who should be supported would be of no importance to the electorate. He said he does not see the reason why either the NDC or the NPP should be trusted and voted back to power when there is an overwhelming evidence of failures in their administration. Dr. Mahama pointed out ?If Ghanaians know that the NDC failed and they voted them out and the NPP has failed, it would be bad if they decided to go back to the NDC?.
