PNC will ensure mutually beneficial partnership with USA – Mahama

Accra, July 28, GNA – Dr Edward Mahama, Presidential Candidate for the Peoples National Convention (PNC), has stated that under his administration, Ghana’s partnership with the United States of America would be mutually beneficial, reciprocal and respectful. He said that instead of Ghanaians queuing at the U.S Embassy to look for visas to America, the reverse would be true because of the kind of policies the PNC government would introduce and implement.

Dr Mahama in a statement issued on Monday about his trip to the United States, described the trip as a resounding success and said the reception he had received in the USA had been pleasant. “Ghana, under my presidency will build a true and durable partnership with the United States,” he emphasized and added that the PNC-led administration would also put in place programmes that would attract Ghanaians in the Diaspora who want to come home but do not have the opportunity.

As part of his tour, the PNC Leader also attended the Ghanafest, a Ghanaian Festival in America, which brings together a lot of Ghanaians to discuss developmental issues affecting Ghana. Dr Mahama said that at the festival most of the Ghanaians gave comments to show their support for his party. He also used the forum to talk about the need for peaceful elections, which he said was in support of the recently launched Political Party’s code. “I have personally contributed to the prevailing peace in Ghana by the fact that I have always been the first to concede defeat when elections results are declared and it is not in my favour.”

Dr Mahama urged Ghanaians to vote massively for the party since he had the best policies and programme for the country’s development. Dr Mahama is visiting the USA to meet with various groups to discuss his political agenda and programmes with development partners. He was accompanied by his wife, Mrs Comfort Mahama, Alhaji Ahmed Ramadan, National Chairman of the PNC, Mr Haruna Sumani, the Policy Analyst of PNC and Mr Francis Daasu, one of the Greater Accra Youth Organizer of the PNC.
