PNC on census

Press release, September 25, 2010.
September 26th- October 10th, 2010 is a period for Ghana’s Population and Housing Census (PHC). The People’s National Convention on the eve of census night wishes to appeal to all Ghanaians to endeavour to not only participate in this crucial national enterprise but also ensure that it is conducted within an atmosphere devoid of confusion.
The PNC urges all Ghanaians to take this matter seriously because when data on our population and housing is available, a prudent government would be able to attend to issues of unemployment, height of vulnerability of segments of our population and also respond to the social and economic challenges that afflict our nation.
Further, this PHC will assist in political representation with regards to, demarcation of districts, electoral areas and also constituencies. It assist in showing the distributive dynamics of our country’s natural resources hence providing platform for redirection and closing of gap for resource scarce parts of the country.
It must be stated that population data is also valuable source of reference for educational research and tooling of a nation.
As we garner our energies towards this all important assignment, it is our duty as a political party to remind government of its responsibility in ensuring that citizens’ welfare is improved to allow for confidence in this process.
Fellow countrymen and women let us all be counted no matter where we find ourselves.
Comradely yours,
Bernard Mornah
General Secretary
