PNC identifies lack of resources as electoral setback in 2008

Bolgatanga, June 3, GNA – The Upper East Regional Executives of the People’s National Convention(PNC), have identified lack of resources and the inability of the party to launch its national campaign as setbacks during Election 2008.

They also acknowledged that lack of co-ordination among the national campaign teams of the party was another major factor that affected the performance of the party during the Presidential and Parliamentary elections.

The party executives made up of all the 13 constituencies chairmen, secretaries and the 2008 Parliamentary Candidate, expressed this view when they held a meeting in Bolgatanga on Wednesday to brainstorm on the challenges of the party in the Region and the strategies for the 2012 Presidential and Parliamentary elections.

A statement issued by the Regional Secretary of the PNC, Mr. Fatchu Henry at the end of the meeting, proposed the strengthening of the research teams of the party to come out with modern methods of campaign strategies for the 2012 General Election.

The meeting also endorsed the decision of the National Executive Committee of the party for early Congress, scheduled to take place on November 30 in Sunyani in the Brong Ahafo Region as a step towards re-organising the party.

They however appealed to Ghanaians who were unable to register to vote during the last elections and those who had attained the age of 18 to take advantage of the forthcoming voters registration exercise to enable them exercise their franchise in 2012. The meeting commended Government for reducing inflation to a single digit.
