PNC elects Northern Regional executive at congress

Tamale, Feb. 14, GNA – Mr Mohammed Adam Nashiru, Northern Regional Organiser of the People’s National Convention has urged all political parties to conduct their electioneering campaigns in an atmosphere of peace to ensure a smooth and successful general election in December. He said the PNC stood for peace and had been a role model for the other political parties, adding, “we in the PNC see our political opponents not as enemies but rather as competitors in the same field.”

Mr Nashiru was addressing the Northern Regional delegates’ congress of the PNC in Tamale on Saturday, which elected unopposed, a nine-member executive with Major Alhassan Jetuma (rtd) as Regional Chairman, for a four-year term.

The Regional Organiser reminded party members that party work demanded team spirit and commitment and urged them to work hard as a group to be able to win political power in December.

He said: “Let us start to mobilise our members and commit ourselves to working towards winning the general election.”

He urged them to show a high sense of transparency in their political activities and respect divergent views.

Other members of the Regional executive are: Mr Alhassan Zakaria, vice-chairman, Mr Iddrisu Andani Mu-Azu, Secretary and Mr George Agandiga-Naduku, Assistant Secretary

The rest are: Mr Amadu Wala, Youth Organiser, Mr Bawah Atikpo, Treasurer, Mr Zakaria Buhaari, Education Secretary and Ms. Emilia Afua Awuni, Women’s Organiser.

Mr Haruna Osman and Hajia Anatu Mahamud were co-opted to serve as Assistant Men’s Organiser and Women’s Youth Organiser respectively. An official from the Regional Office of the Electoral Commission supervised the election.
