PM lauds creation of Gomoa East District

Apam (C/R), Oct 31, GNA – The Presiding Member of Gomoa

District Assembly, Mr Fred Oscar Abban has commended the government for creating a new District, Gomoa East out of the

existing District. Mr Abban noted that breaking the District, which was the

largest in the Central Region into two, would accelerate

development of the area. Speaking to the Ghana News Agency at Apam, the Presiding

Member said the vast nature of the District had made allocation of

projects difficult. “Satisfying over 300 communities with infrastructure and other

amenities has really been a tedious task,” he said. Mr Abban who is also the Acting Headmaster of the Gomoa

Secondary Technical School, said the situation had polarized the District into Gomoa East – Gomoa West dichotomy with the people at times refusing to compromise on unity. The Presiding Member further commended the government for

siting the capital of the new District at Afransi and said that would

bring peace between the two paramountcies – Gomoa Akyempim

and Gomoa Ajumako Traditional Area. Mr Abban called on the people to bury their past differences

and join hands to develop the two Districts for the benefit of Gomoas. 31 Oct. 07
