Plot owner fined for fraud.

Tema, Aug. 21, GNA – A Tema Circuit Court ‘A’ has imposed a fine of two million cedis on man who collected three million cedis from a Mechanic under the pretext of selling him a plot of land at Zone Four in Ashaiman.

Sylvester Essandor, Unemployed, pleaded guilty to a charge of fraud and would go to jail for three years in default. Inspector Sarah Aggrey Acquah told the Court presided over by Mr Charles Asiedu that in 2000, Essandor collected three million cedis from the Mechanic and promised to give a piece of land at Zone Four in Ashaiman.

She said after collecting the money, the accused vanished from the vicinity, and on March 21, 2003, complainant spotted accused and reported him to Police.

When the accused was granted Police enquiry bail to report the following day, he failed and could not be traced, therefore, Police fell on the Surety, who organised a search party and was arrested. Inspector Acquah said the accused in his caution statement admitted the offence.
