Play your hearts out to bring AFCON trophy home – Mahama

President John Mahama has urged the Black Stars to play their hearts out as they encounter the Elephants of La Cote d’Ivoire in today’s finals of the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations in Equatorial Guinea.

In a good will message to the Stars ahead of the game, the President wrote on his Facebook wall: “With determination, discipline, dedication to duty, fortitude and patriotism, you shall emerge victorious”.

He also urged all Ghanaians to remember the team in their prayers ahead of the game.

The Black Stars face the Elephants of Ivory Coast later today, in a replay of the Senegal 1992 final in which the Elephants won through penalty kicks.

It was the last time the Elephants won a continental trophy despite a golden generation of brilliant players.

The Ivoirians are keen to end their trophy famine and have an equally unwavering Ghana team to crack.
