The Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Ayawaso North, Haruna Mohammed Awal, has urged parents across the municipality to play a more active role in their children’s education as part of efforts to combat rising incidents of student violence.
Speaking at a community engagement forum organized by the Municipal Directorate of Education, Mr. Awal said recent clashes among students pose a serious threat to both the future of the youth and the security of local communities.
“These occurrences not only endanger the future of our youth but also pose significant security risks to our communities,” he stated.
The meeting brought together parents, education officials, and community stakeholders to deliberate on strategies for improving educational outcomes and ensuring a safe academic environment. Mr. Awal said the forum provided valuable insights, as participants shared concerns and suggestions regarding the educational system.
He commended the Ayawaso North Municipal Director of Education, Mr. Emmanuel Kofi Techi, for spearheading the initiative and also lauded the Zongo Youth for Discipline group for their continuous efforts in promoting discipline and positive values among students.
“I am fully committed to collaborating with all stakeholders, especially the Zongo Youth for Discipline, to address these pressing issues,” the MCE assured. “Together, we can work towards eliminating student violence and creating a safer and better future for all our wards.”
The MCE’s remarks come amid growing concerns over safety in schools, prompting calls for community-driven solutions to restore discipline and enhance academic achievement in the municipality.
