Plaque in memory of parishioners unveiled

Abuakwa (Ash), Sept. 16, GNA – A plaque in memory of the 34 parishioners of the Abuakwa Roman Catholic Church, who died in a tragic motor accident at Akropong Junction on the Kumasi-Sunyani road in May this year, has been unveiled at Abuakwa in the Atwima-Nwabiagya District.

Most Rev. Justice Gabriel Yaw Anokye, Auxiliary Bishop of the Kumasi Archdiocese, who performed the ceremony as part of activities to climax the 10th anniversary celebration of the Abuakwa Roman Catholic Parish said 93in all things we must give thanks to the Almighty=94. He said it was with deep regret that the parishioners died when offering services to God.

Bishop Anokye prayed for the souls of the departed. He announced that an endowment fund towards the upkeep of dependants of the 34 parishioners would be launched at St Peter’s Minor Basilica in Kumasi on October 7, this year.

Rev. Father Callistus Emenyonu, Abuakwa Parish Priest said government officials, traditional rulers, assembly members, MPs, corporate bodies as well as public spirited individuals were expected to attend the function. 16 Sept. 06
