Plaintiff withdraws contempt case against Plange

Accra, April 8, GNA – Mr David Fugah, Board Member of Accra Great Olympics Football Club has withdrawn the contempt case against the Ghana Football Association (GFA), Mr Ernest Appatu-Plange, majority shareholder of the club and five others.

Mr Fugah filed an application of contempt of court against the GFA and the Club’s IMC for organising a charity friendly match against Accra Hearts of Oak after the court had placed an injunction on the match. Withdrawing the case, Counsel for the plaintiff told the court that; the decision was to pave way for reconciliation among the various parties of the club.

Her Lordship, Mrs F. Owusu-Arhin in granting the request advised the parties to seek an amicable solution to the case before the court’s next sitting.

Mrs Owusu-Arhin subsequently adjourned the case to April 23, for the substantive case to be heard.

It would be recalled that Mr Fugah filed an application of injunction at the Accra High Court against Mr Appatu-Plange and five other members of the Interim Management Committee (IMC) appointed by him seeking to restrain them from holding themselves as management members of the club.

The other defendants in the case are Mr John Teye, Mr Fritz Baffour, Mr Jerry Djangmah, Mr George Heward Mills and Mr R.O. Solomon.

The injunction also sought to restrain the GFA and the IMC from organising a charity match between Hearts and Olympics but this was defied and the match went on as scheduled.
