President John Dramani Mahama on March 9, 2015, arrived in Botswana for a three-day state visit on the invitation of Lieutenant General Seretse Khama Ian Khama, President of the Republic of Botswana.

As part of his visit, discussions between the two countries focused on strengthening the ties between the two nations and find areas of common interest as well as issues relating to livestock and animal husbandry, youth empowerment and development, training of medical personnel, mining, wildlife, trade, mutual legal assistance among others.

Together with First Lady Lordina Mahama, the president and his entourage met Ghanaians in Botswana to share with them the works of Government and how it intends to move the nation out of its current economic challenges.

Madam Hannah Tetteh, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration, Prof. Jane Naana Opoku Agyemang, Minister of Education and a number of officials were also in Botswana with President Mahama.

President Mahama will be ending his visit to Botswana today.
