Photo report: Ghana holds 4th World Mayor Summit

The fourth edition of the World Summit of Mayors, which is hosted by Ghana, has been held at the Acra International Conference Center (AICC) in Accra.

The 3 day summit, which started yesterday, June 1, 2015 on the theme “Economic Empowerment between Africa and the Diaspora”, is expected to end tomorrow, June 3, 2015.

The summit was made up of mayors from Africa and African descent in the diaspora. Prior to the event, a delegation from the Global Alliance of Mayors paid a courtesy call on the Vice President of Ghana, Mr Kwesi Amissah-Arthur.

Mr Alfred Oko Vanderpuije, Mayor of Accra-Ghana was elected the President of the Global Alliance of Mayors and Leaders from Africa and of African descent last year September, thus making him the first president of such an organization.

The gavel of the presidency was handed to him during the second meeting of the Global Alliance held at the United Nations Headquarters in New York.
