Phone Snatcher Lynched In Kumasi

A MAN believed to be in his late 20s was last Wednesday lynched by a mob here, for snatching the mobile phone of a woman in the area.

Police Superintendent Paul Ayittey, Asawase District Police Commander, said the man and two others met the woman near the Wesley College campus. He snatched the phone and passed it on to one of his accomplices who bolted with it. The woman raised the alarm and people who were attracted to the scene, pounced on him and meted out instant justice.

The other accomplice escaped from the mob..

Supt. Ayittey said the police had not made any arrest yet but investigations were underway.

He cautioned the public against such mob actions because it becomes very difficult for police to do any proper investigations without the principal suspects.
