Phone snatcher lynched at Tema

Tema, June 16, GNA — An unidentified man was on Sunday evening set ablaze and one other seriously wounded for allegedly snatching a mobile phone from a man. The body of the deceased has been deposited at the Police Hospital Morgue while the injured man is on admission at the Tema General Hospital.

Briefing the Ghana News Agency (GNA), Inspector Olivia Turkson, Tema Regional Police Public Affairs Officer said the police had information that two people have been lynched at Tema Community 10 near the Nyaniba Nursing Training College at about 1900 hours.

She stated that information gathered by the police at the scene indicated that one of the two lynched, snatched the phone from the victim and passed it on to a third person who escaped. Inspector Turkson further said a mob was attracted to the scene when the victim shouted for help leading to the lynching of one, adding that the one wounded was in critical condition.
