Philanthropist Donates To Prisons Service

A Ghanaian philanthropist based in the United Kingdom, Mr. Ola Durojaiye, yesterday donated 10 DVD/VCD players costing ?18million to the Ghana Prisons Service at a ceremony held at the prisons headquarters in Accra to make life worth living for the inmates of the prisons.

He said the government alone could not bring about a better quality of life in the prisons because of inadequate finance, and therefore he deemed it important for all Ghanaians to try their best to help to humanize the prisons system. He prayed that the prisoners would show remorse and be penitent for the good of the society. The acting director of the Ghana Prisons Service, Mr. William Asiedu said the donor had been assisting the service over a long period and thanked him for the gesture. He said the players, which would be distributed to 10 prisons establishments in the country, would boost the morale of the inmates.
