Philanthropist donates 20 bales of shorts to prisons

A philanthropist, Mr Ernest Asante, and his wife, Mrs Dora Owusu-Asante, have donated 20 bales of second-hand khaki and jeans shorts to the Prisons Officers and inmates of the Koforidua Prisons on New Year Day.

The items which cost over Ghc9,000 formed the eighth donation that Mr. Asante was making to the Prisons.

Presenting them, he said he had been donating to the Prisons for the past eight years because he feels that the inmates always need the support and care of others.

He advised people who would be released not to go and commit any crime to bring them back to the Prisons.

Assistant Superintendent of Prisons(ASP) Godfred Apeatu Amponsah , Prison Officer on duty who received the items, thanked Mr Asante and the wife for the donation, and said it would go a long way to support the efforts of the Prison Service in caring for the inmates.
