Philanthropist constructs classrooms, library for Pute

Pute (GAR), Oct. 12, GNA – Deputy Minister for Education Science and Sports, Mr Osei Bonsu Amoah, has said Government is concern about the importance of formal education to the socio-economic development of the country hence the allocation of huge resources to its development. He said the government will continue to partner with the private sector and philanthropists to ensure that every child of school-going age has access to quality education.

The Deputy Minister made these remarks during the handing over ceremony of a block of four classrooms and a library built by Mr Oko Nikoi Dzame, Executive Director of NDK Financial Service Limited, for the Presby Nursery at Pute in the Dangme East District. He announced that over 299 blocks of classrooms had been constructed throughout the country.

He said so far some 5,689 untrained teachers had completed the first phase of the Ministry’s upgrading programme. He commended Mr Dzame for his philanthropic gesture and urged the citizens to make good use of the building.

The Dangme East District Director of Education, Madam Comfort Ametame, said since the introduction of the Capitation Grant and the School feeding programme, enrolment in the district had comparatively increased tremendously.

The District Chief Executive for Dangme East, Mr Israel Narh Baako, said under the National Youth Employment Programme, more than 100 young people in the district had been trained to fill vacancies in the classrooms.
