Phase 3 of biometric registration progresses at Wassa Amenfi East.

The third phase of the biometric registration exercise has recorded remarkable improvement in the Wassa Amenfi East District.

In an interview with the Ghana News Agency, Madam Juliet Asante, the Electoral Officer in charge of Wassa Amenfi East, said though the registration officers routinely have minor problems with the kits, challenges during the first and second phases of the exercise had reduced in the third phase.

She said 18,821 and 19,531 people were registered in the first two phases adding that, they hoped to exceed these figures in the third phase.

Madam Asante said, because the district is a farming community and the people spend most of the time in their farms, turnout at most registration centers are slow but added that, it would not affect their estimated figure of registering 60,000 people at the end of the exercise.

She said due to the poor road network in certain parts of the district, some of the registration officers had to walk for about three kilometers with the tool kits to their registration centers.

She appealed to the people to be patient at the registration centres for peace to prevail.**
