Petrified Volta chief executives appeal for guards

Municipal and District Chief Executives in the Volta Region have called for “adequate security” following the assassination of the Nkwanta South District Chief Executive on Monday November 3.

Addressing a news conference in Ho on Tuesday, Michael Kobla Adjaho, Agotime-Ziope District Chief Executive (DCE) described the death of Peter Kenyensor as “dastardly” and “gruesome” and that he and his colleagues got the news with “utter dismay”.

The Nkwanta-South DCE was reportedly shot in the neck at close range Monday evening in his home and pronounced dead on arrival at the hospital.

They conveyed their condolences to late Kenyensor’s wife, children, family and the entire people of Nkwanta-South.

During their interaction with journalists, some of the chief executives claimed they are virtually exposed to danger especially in their official residences which are isolated hence the need for a police guard.

Top police officers from the region are said to have moved to Nkwanta, capital of the district where intensive investigations are underway.

So far reports indicate that eight people have been picked up for interrogation.
