Perform well to make difference in governance – Ministers told

Accra, March 10, GNA – President John Agyekum Kufuor on Thursday asked Ministers to ensure their performance impacted positively in the Ghanaian body politic.

He said the Government expected the Ministers, especially those who served during the first tenure in office to use their accumulated experiences in governance to impact on their performance and make the difference in governance.

“I expect you (Ministers) to serve the people in such a way to make an impact in the Ghanaian body politic. Ghanaians want to see very positive impact in the social, physical and the political landscape”, he said.

President Kufuor made the call when he administered the oaths of allegiance, office and secrecy to four Ministers including a woman at the Castle, Osu.

He also presented the instruments of appointment to Mr Kwadwo Okyere Mpiani, Chief of Staff and Minister of Presidential Affairs and Dr Kofi Konadu Apraku Minister of State at the Ministry of Regional Co-operation and New Partnership for Africa’s Development (NEPAD).

The rest were, Dr Paa Kwesi Nduom, Minister of State in Charge of Public Sector Reform and Ms Elizabeth Akua Ohene, Minister of State at the Ministry of Education and Sports.

President Kufuor reiterated his call on the Ministers to work efficiently and effectively “in order that Ghanaians will appreciate our services.”

“I hope there will be no disappointment. I want to see all of you pull your weight for our government to make the difference in governance Ghanaians expect us to make”.

Mr Mpiani assured the Government that they would work diligently to leave a legacy in the Ghanaian body politic after the Government’s second tenure in office.

“We will learn from you (the President) and do everything humanely possible to keep a straight path to uphold the good name of your Government and Ghana”, he added.

Present at the ceremony was Vice President Alhaji Aliu Mahama.
