People of Pakyi-Ashanti mobilise 47 million cedis for electrification

Pakyi(Ash), Feb. 13, GNA – The chiefs and people of Pakyi near Nyinahin in the Atwima-Mponua district of Ashanti have mobilised 47 million cedis towards their electrification project. Mr Nicholas Kwakye, Pakyi Unit Committee Chairman who announced this said the money would be used to purchase low-tension electricity poles.

He therefore, appealed to the Government and the assembly to provide a transformer and cables to link the town to Nkruma. Mr Kwakye made the appeal when Mr Wilberforce Owusu-Ansah, Atwima-Mponua District Chief Executive visited the town. He called for the construction of a Junior Secondary School, a KVIP and additional boreholes for the town.

Mr Owusu-Ansah advised the people to invest in the education of their children to empower them. He said the assembly would enact byelaws to prosecute parents who failed to send their children to school and asked head-teachers not to charge unauthorized fees.
