People of Mempeasem enjoy free medical care

Mempeasem(C/R), March 08, GNA – Rural Child Evangelistic Ministry (RCEM), an Accra-based NGO in collaboration with Christian Charity Community Health Care Centre (CCCHCC), based at Ayensudo in the Komenda-Edina-Eguafo-Abirem district in the Central region, on Tuesday provided free medical care for more than 300 inhabitants of Mempeasem, a farming community, near Cape Coast and its surrounding communities. The beneficiaries mostly women and children, were screened and given medication for skin diseases, anaemia, malaria, abdominal pains, malnutrition, worm infestation and eye diseases.

Mr Victor Flow-Mensah, a Consultant at CCCHCC advised the people to keep their surroundings clean to avoid contracting malaria and cholera. He urged them to seek medical attention promptly rather than attend prayer centres.

Ms Comfort Tsaku, Executive Director of RCEM, said the NGO was established to cater for the needy in deprived communities.

She explained that in addition to bringing people closer to God it had created awareness on the prevention of diseases such as HIV/AIDS. Ms Tsaku, advised the people to plan their families to ensure they could cater for their children’s needs and educate them to become responsible adults in future.

She commended the management of Ayrton Drug Company for their support towards the exercise.

Nana Kwabena Mensah, Odikro of Mempeasem expressed gratitude to RCEM for the free medical care and called on the people to reciprocate the gesture by participating in communal labour regularly to ensure clean environment. 08 March 06
