People of Forikrom embark on electrification project.

Forikrom (B/A), April 8, GNA – The chief and people of Forikrom in the Techiman district have embarked on an electrification project for which they have erected 52 wooden poles.

The assemblyman for the area, Mr James Gyamfi, told the GNA that four million cedis have so far been spent in wiring one-third of the houses. He said residents are paying 10,000 cedis a man and 5,000 cedis a woman towards the project.

Non-resident citizens are paying 20,000 cedis a man while women contribute 10,000 cedis each. Mr Gyamfi said that 50 more low-tension poles were needed and out of this, Alhaji Kwadwo Maama Adam, Member of Parliament for Techiman South has given them 10 with a promise to buy them 10 more from his share of the District Assemblies’ Common Fund.

Mr Gyamfi expressed the hope that the project would be completed by June this year and appealed to those who have not paid their contributions to do so promptly.

Nana Kwaku Agyepong, Odikro of Forikrom, who is Benkumhene of Techiman Traditional Area, urged the people to expedite action to complete the project. He condemned the attitude of some of the people, who, he said, have chosen to criticise instead of contributing towards the completion of the project.
