Gomoa Abora (C/R), Jan. 29, GNA – The Central Regional Minister designate, Mrs Ama Benyiwa-Doe has urged people of the region to bury their political differences and rally behind the new government for accelerated development. “With the elections over, what we have now is a united Ghana, not NDC or NPP Ghana”, she said and added that “it is this united Ghana which all of us must be committed to develop”.
Mrs Benyiwa_Doe made the remarks at the out-dooring of Nana Hamah V as Chief of Gomoa Abora near Apam. Nana Hamah, known in private life as Mr Seth Ebo Blankson, a staff of the Customs, Exercise and Preventive Service (CEPS) succeeded his uncle who vacated the stool about 10 years ago. Mrs Benyiwa-Doe reminded the people that they had a stake in President Mills’ administration, since as the first son of the area to be elected to the highest office, “we have a share in his success or failure”. “For this reason,” she said, “no one should sit on the fence and wait to see what others can do”.
The President, his vice and minister alone cannot do everything as development comes through a concerted effort of all citizens. Mr Francis Arthur, Member of Parliament for Gomoa West re-echoed his call on Ghanaians not to allow politics to divide them. He called for a closer collaboration between chiefs and MPs to accelerate development.
Nana Kweku Gyasi Otuanamonkwa, Tufuhene of Gomoa Ankamu appealed to the kingmakers not to abandon the new chief after the out-dooring, but to give him the necessary support and encouragement. The new Chief pledged to strengthen the town’s unit committee and empower the members to lead in the developmental agenda. He said he would establish closer contact with other chiefs in the Gomoa Akyempim Traditional area to tap their experience.
