People of Anweabeng appeal for kerosene tank

The people of Anweabeng in the Abuakwa constituency in the Eastern Region are reportedly been buying kerosene at 22,000 cedis per gallon instead of the approved price of 17,500 cedis.

They have, therefore, appealed to the Member of Parliament (MP) for the area to help them acquire a kerosene tank so that they could get supply of kerosene to buy at the approved price.

They made the request when the MP, Nana Addo Dankwa Akuffo Addo visited them as part of his tour to interact with the people of the constituency.

The people also called for the extension of the various financial support for women to the women in the community.

At Atukrom, the people appealed to the MP for provision a new block for the local Junior Secondary School (JSS) to replace the old one, which was destroyed by a rainstorm ten years ago.

Nana Akuffo Addo said part of the one billion cedis HIPC fund allocated to the East Akim District would be used to roof the Anweabeng Clinic.

He promised to discuss the various problems put forward by the people with the District Assembly to find out how best they could be resolved.

On behalf of Nana Akuffo Addo who is also the Attorney General and Minister of Justice, Mr Martin Asare, Abuakwa Constituency Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) presented 150 bags of cement and eight packets of roofing sheets valued at 12.5 million cedis to six schools in the constituency.

The items, which were purchased from the MP’s share of the Common Fund was to help the schools to undertake various constructional works.

Among the beneficiary schools were Asiakwa St. Stephens Secondary, Asiakwa Roman Catholic Primary, Kibi Secondary Technical, Kibi Anglican JSS, Akyem Odumase Methodist Primary and Kukurantumi Islamic Primary.
