People of Ampemkro build quarters for teachers

The people of Ampemkro, a farming community near Nkawie in the Atwima District are constructing a five-room Teachers Quarters.

According to Nana Yaw Adu, Odikro, the people are contributing a special levy of 10,000 cedis a man and 5,000 cedis a woman towards the project in addition to communal labour.

He said the project would be completed by the end of April to solve the acute accommodation problem teachers posted to the town faced and to encourage them to stay in the community.

Mr Anthony Amankwah, Chairman of the Unit Committee, expressed gratitude to Mr. Kwasi Afriyie Dante, MP for Atwima-Mponua, for donating 20 bags of cement for the project.

Mr Ahmed Zakaria, Headteacher, thanked the people for their concern about the plight of teachers in the town and said the project when completed would go a long way to assist them.
