A visit by the Ghana News Agency (GNA) to the Statehouse and the Military Cemetery, Osu at 0900 hours on Saturday showed that despite the new arrangement, people were patiently waiting to see the body of their former Vice President while others were busily arriving for the ceremony.

Alhaji Mahama died yesterday at age 66 after a short illness. He was receiving treatment at the Cardiothoracic Centre of the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital where he had been on admission for a Cardiac problem.

Some òf the people who interacted with the GNA said they had come from Obuasi in the Ashanti Region, Ashaiman, Accra New Town, Nsawam and Madina to witness the burial ceremony and pay their last respects to the good, loving and caring leader and statesman.

Speaking on behalf of one of the groups, Madam Comfort Kweiba Arthur described the former vice-president as affable, peace-loving, generous, and a father for the poor.

Some of the people told the GNA they would wait till tomorrow for the funeral and burial ceremony before leaving.
