People advised against HIV

Kotokrom (B/A), Aug. 14, GNA – Mr Peter K. Kuugyire, Programme Officer of Mission of Hope for Society Foundation, an NGO, has advised people at Kotokrom in Sunyani East to know their HIV status as a guide to their day-to-day activities.

Mr Kuugyire gave the advice at an HIV Sensitization Meeting with the people at Kotokrom at the weekend.

He said counselling, testing and the need for parents and relatives to care for and support victims of HIV were key areas.

The programme officer said failure to use condom, pre-marital sex and the use of old blade for shaving or barbering, among other things, could cause one to contract the HIV virus.

Mr Kuugyire later told the Ghana News Agency that the meeting was part of this year’s third-quarter programme of the Foundation.

Similar outreach programmes, code-named ‘Community Capacity Enhancement,’ have been held at Yeji, Sampa, Jema and Kenyasi in Brong Ahafo.
