Pentecost women donate to female prisoners

Sunyani (B/A) May 3, GNA – The Women’s Movement of Sunyani Area Church of Pentecost on Monday presented items worth GHC1,000 to the female inmates of the Sunyani Prisons. The items include bags of maize, boxes of sanitary pad, bath room slippers, dozens of underwear, toilet rolls, second-hand clothing and some locally manufactured soap. Presenting the items on behalf of the movement, Mrs Grace Yeboah Asuamah, the leader, said May One had been set aside by the movement to pursue its social responsibility programmes and the gesture was in response to a request made by the inmates. She noted that the inmates needed some basic personal items in their incarceration to make their reformation and re-integrated into society a little easier.

Receiving the items, Mrs. Florence Ayama Nkrumah, officer in charge of the female ward, thanked the movement for the gesture, which she said was worthy of emulation. She called on other benevolent and corporate organizations to go to the aid of the inmates.
