Pentecost elder commits suicide

A presiding elder of the Abesewa branch of the Church of Pentecost has killed himself by hanging.

The death of Allan Entsie Adams has thrown the Abesewa town in the Upper Denkyira East Municipality in the Central region into a state of mourning, according to Spark FM reporter Mintah Hayford.

It is unclear why the 49-year-old businessman and elder of the Church of Pentecost committed suicide on Friday June 5, at his residence after morning devotion.

Neighbours who heard the news broke into Adams’ residence following an alarm from his family.

The body of the deceased has been taken to the Dunkwa Government Hospital morgue by the Upper Denkyira Police Command.

Late last month, a Presbyterian Church pastor Alexander Asare, 59, also shot himself in the Hwidiem town in the Brong Ahafo region. Prior to that a 28-year-old Catholic brother Sebastian Dery committed suicide in Navrongo in the Upper East region.
