The Pentecost International Worship Center (PIWC) in Koforidua has organized free health screening for about 300 poor and under-privileged people at Akpamu and surrounding farming communities.
They were examined for malaria, HIV-AIDS, hepatitis ‘B’ and other diseases by a team of health professionals and provided with free drugs.
The team additionally educated the people on the symptoms and prevention of malaria and other diseases.
Those, whose health insurance had expired were also assisted to renew their insurance to enable them to access quality healthcare.
Mr. Eric Darfour, Presiding Elder of the Koforidua PIWC, said it was not only interested in the spiritual development of the people but their physical wellbeing as well.
He added that creating awareness about malaria, HIV-AIDS, hepatitis ‘B’ and other health conditions could help to prevent premature deaths.
Ms. Portia Korkor, a beneficiary of the free healthcare exercise, applauded the church for the intervention and pleaded that this was done at regular intervals.
