Pensioner granted 20 million cedi bail for alleged fraud

Cape Coast, Dec. 19, GNA – A circuit court at Cape Coast on Monday granted Kobina Egyir Danso, a 65-year old pensioner, 20 million cedis bail with a surety to be justified for allegedly defrauding a driver. Danso pleaded not guilty to defrauding by false pretences and is to be re-arraigned on January 9.

Police Chief Inspector Hope Azasoo told the court presided over by Mr Mustapha Logoh that the complainant met Danso on November 12 this year and during conversation Danso told him that he had a store he wanted to lease.

He said the complainant expressed interest and later made an advance payment of 10 million cedis but shortly afterwards he had information that Danso had given out the same store to another person and he demanded his money.

Chief Inspector Azasoo said when all efforts by the complainants to get his money back failed he reported the matter to the police.
