Peduase Lodge To Be Renovated

President Kufuor has directed the Ministry of Works and Housing to renovate the Peduase Lodge, which used to serve as a weekend residence for Ghana’s Heads of State. The lodge, located near Aburi in the Eastern Region also served as accommodation for visiting dignitaries. However, it has not been renovated for the past twenty years and has therefore outlived its usefulness. The Minister for Works and Housing Kwamena Bartels said his ministry will soon produce a plan for the renovation works.

According to Mr. Bartels, the President’s instruction that the lodge be renovated forms part of government’s policy of ensuring that all state facilities are well maintained. He brushed aside criticisms that the NPP government is refusing to use facilities used by the previous government because it wants to live in luxury.

The Works and Housing Minister also disclosed that the contractors working on the Osu Castle will soon complete renovation works.

President Kufuor and his family are therefore expected to take up residence at the Castle soon. The exact date for the move-in is being kept secret for security reasons.
