Peasah’s case: Police seek Atoorney General’s advice

THE police have forwarded the docket on the case involving the former Deputy Minister of Transport and Communications, Mr K. A. Peasah to the Attorney-General for advice.

Mr Peasah was arrested on July 12, this year at Cape Coast whilst on his way from Accra to Takoradi, for possessing a quantity of black papers cut to the size of currency notes.

Mr Peasah who was allegedly travelling to Takoradi to look for some chemicals which when poured onto the black papers could transform them into currency notes, was tracked down and arrested at the Moree Police Check Point on the Cape Coast-Accra road.

When the Toyota Corona with registration number GR 724 C being driven by one Kingsley Dadzie was searched, eight bundles of the black papers concealed in a black polythene bag was discovered in the booth.

Mr Peasah claimed ownership of the papers when questioned and was arrested with the driver and two other occupants of the vehicle.

The Central Regional Police Commander, Mr J. B. Amofa, who was briefing the Graphic on the latest development on the case at Cape Coast yesterday, said since the offence is a first degree felony, the case would be tried by a higher court.

However, he said the one who stood surety for the former minister (name withheld) has been asked to produce him to the police as nothing has been heard of Mr Peasah since the publication of the issue. Graphic
