Tolon (N/R), Dec 16, GNA- Mr K. Safo-Kantanka, Deputy Chairman of the Electoral Commission in Charge of Operations, has expressed satisfaction with the voter turnout at the District Assembly elections in the Tolon/Kumbungu District.
The elections are taking place in four of the six districts in Dagbon, namely Savelgu/Nanton, Tolon/Kumbugu, Zabzugu/Tatale and Gushiegu/Karaga.
Mr Safo-Kantanka said adequate preparations were made for the provision of electoral materials at the various polling stations. He was speaking to newsmen after visiting some of the polling stations to monitor the elections.
At Tolon L/A Primary School Polling Station out of 776 registered voters 220 people had already cast their vote as at 1115 hours. At Gbulung Electoral Area Polling Station 195 people had voted out of 362 registered voters, while at the Kanshegu Polling Station 61 people out of 321 registered voters had cast their votes by 0900 hours.
When the media talked to the Presiding Officers at the various polling stations they said the voting pattern would be more encouraging by noon when most of the people who had either gone to the market or were attending funerals would have returned to cast their vote.
