Peace FM denies reporting death at NDC congress

Accra, Dec. 30 GNA – The Management of Peace FM on Friday denied that it had reported that four persons died during last week’s National Delegates’ Congress of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in Koforidua.

A statement signed by the General Manager, Mr Kwesi Brenya said the latest person to spread the false statement was Mr Ato Ahwoi, a leading member of the NDC, on an Accra FM station on Thursday.

The statement said Peace FM sent three reporters to the Congress – its Parliamentary Correspondent and two political reporters. It said there was a fourth reporter from Hello FM, its sister radio station in Kumasi, but none of them reported on the death of any person.

“The Company wants to protest vehemently at what seems to be a deliberate attempt to bring into disrepute the hard won reputation on the leading FM station in Ghana.”

Peace FM said Mr Haruna Iddrisu, NDC Member of Parliament for Tamale South, had rendered an apology to Peace FM for making a similar statement.

Peace FM demanded a complete withdrawal of the statement and an apology from Mr Ahwoi for making an unverified statement about the station.

When the GNA contacted Mr Ahwoi he said he had no comments to make.
