Pay bonuses in September – farmer

Asankrangwa (W/R), Nov. 6, GNA – Mr. Joseph Tiama, the new chief farmer of Asankran-Breman Ghana Cocoa Coffee and Sheanut Association, has called on COCOBOD to pay cocoa bonuses in September so that farmers could enrol their children in school. He was speaking during a courtesy call on Mr. Alberto Tekyi, Wassa Amenfi West District Chief Executive, at Asankrangwa in the Western region.

His predecessor, Opanin Kwadjo Essuman, Mmeretehene of Asankran-Brema, Nana Yaw Gyemadu II and Mr. Anthony Arthur Unit committee member, accompanied Mr. Tiama. He promised to use his position to woo young men into agriculture and to set up a committee to bring the cocoa housing scheme to Asankran-Breman to benefit farmers.

The chief farmer appealed to the district assembly to increase the gangs in the mass spraying exercise so that a lot of cocoa farmers would benefit from the exercise.

Mr. Tekyi commended the chief farmer for his efforts and urged him to organize the farmers on regular basis to acquire technical advice and training from agricultural extension officers.

He advised the farmers to draw up programmes and activities to attract support from the district assembly.
