Patients urged to appreciate their rights

The Ghana Anti-Corruption Coalition (GACC) has urged the public, especially patients, to stand for their rights and ensure that those rights were not trampled upon in any health institution.

Mrs Beauty Emefa Narteh, Communications Officer of the GACC, said quality affordable healthcare was imperative for nation building and that the gains being made in providing health infrastructure must be complemented by quality service delivery by health workers.

She said children, mothers and many citizens continued to die from treatable diseases like malaria and respiratory infections, and that maternal mortality continued to worsen in the country.

Mrs Narteh was addressing a public forum in Tamale on Wednesday on health accountability project organized by GACC.

She said under the project, community members would be provided with information on the patients’ charter and a platform to report cases of dissatisfaction or commendation about health service delivery.
