Pastors blamed for indecent dressing

Kumasi, Aug. 21, GNA – A Youth Activist has blamed the recent upsurge of indecent dressing by some church members, especially teenage girls, to the lack of willpower on the part of most Pastors to openly preach against the practice.

Odeneho Kwaku Appiah, the immediate Past President of Youth in Action, an umbrella of youth groups in the Kumasi Metropolis, explained that for fear of loosing membership, which would consequently reduce church collections and tithes, most pastors deliberately refuse to preach against the indecent dressing and appearance of their members at church.

Odeneho Appiah made the observation when he spoke on the topic, “the need for discipline as Christians” at a day’s seminar in Kumasi on Saturday.

The seminar, which was organised by the Kwadaso Christian Youth Fellowship, and attended by a number of selected Christian group leaders in the Metropolis, was designed to equip them with techniques for convincing their members to practice decent dressing.

Odeneho Appiah expressed regrets that indecent manner of dressing by church members was often facilitated by the appearance and expensive lifestyles of spouses and children of Pastors too.

Odeneho Appiah noted that in order to attract more members to churches, some of the self-seeking pastors completely neglect issues on discipline, morality and spiritual welfare, and rather focus on preaching prosperity and issues related to deliverance.

Pastor David Mensah in-charge of Evangelism of the Kwadaso Christian Youth Fellowship, advised parents not to leave the training of their children to only Pastors and Teachers, but also get actively involved in their moral and character training.
