Pastors asked to allow the Holy Spirit to dwell in them

Accra, June 5, GNA – A clergyman has asked Ministers of God to allow the Holy Spirit to dwell in them to empower them to stand the test of temptation. Right Reverend Professor Emmanual Martey, Moderator of Presbyterian Church of Ghana (PCG), explained that unless pastors allow the Holy Spirit to anoint or empower them, they cannot achieve their role. He made the call at the induction of 16 Ministerial Probationers (Pastors) of the PCG, Emmanuel Congregation, Madina, on Sunday on the theme= : “Empowered by the Holy Spirit”.

Rev. Martey said like Jesus Christ, the new pastors would be expected to undertake a public ministry and appealed to them to be guided by the teachings of Jesus Christ. He said Christianity provides hope for all people and to those in worst circumstances so that their lives would be re-established with blessing. Rev. Martey said Christianity does not only seek to fulfil a socio-economic plan but a divine mandate and a holy obligation in keeping God’s rule. He asked the new pastors to spread the good news to the poor and to help bring hope to the unemployed or exploited workers. Rev. Martey also tasked the pastors to operate with the authority of Christ to enable them to liberate people from the bondage of sin and satani= c activities.

He observed that some Christians were morally weak and spiritually asleep. Rev. Edwin Tetteh Buertey, who spoke on behalf of the newly ordained pastors, praised the Lord for protecting them through out their training at the Trinity Theological Seminary. He also commended the Church leaders for supporting them to complete their training, and pledged that they would work hard to spread the gospel.
