Pastor bemoans increased social vices

Atwima-Akyeremade (Ash), Aug 26, GNA- Pastor Nimako Boansi, Pastor in-charge of the Tafo Nhyiaeso Seventh Day Adventist (SDA) Church in Kumasi has bemoaned the increasing social-vices, which he said militated against the development of the country.

He mentioned drug abuse and its trafficking, teenage pregnancy, abortion, indiscipline and others among the youth and appealed to the churches to intensify their evangelism and other programmes to help transform the society.

Pastor Boansi was preaching at the opening of a five-day camp meeting of the Suntreso District Church of the Seventh Day Adventist (SDA) at Atwima-Akyeremade in the Atwima- Bosomtwe- Kwanwoma District on Saturday.

The meeting is being attended by 800 delegates of the church in the Suntreso District and has the theme “Words of Hope”. Pastor Boansi said the only hope for Ghanaians was to accept God as their personal Saviour and urged them to be committed and dedicated to the worship of Him.

He stressed the need for people to eschew negative tendencies like rumour mongering, nepotism, bribery, corruption, laziness and others, which affect development.

He said the Golden Jubilee celebration of the country this year demanded the collective effort of individuals to contribute their quota towards the advancement of the nation. Mr Emmanuel Anti, an elder of the church at Kwadaso in Kumasi, said education was a vital tool in nation building and appealed to parents and guardians to give priority to their children’s education.

Nana Owusu Brempong, Communication Director of the Suntreso SDA Church said the way forward for the church was to intensify its evangelism to win more souls for Christ. He urged members to be deeply involved in the church’s programmes to ensure its growth and development.
