Tamale, Oct. 16, GNA – Passengers who travel on the Fufulso-Sawla link road in the Northern Region to Wa, the Upper West capital, have appealed to the government as a matter of urgency, to rehabilitate the road to facilitate the movement of people and goods.
Speaking to the Ghana News Agency (GNA) at Tamale on Monday, a spokesman for the passengers, Mr Abudu Issah said the deplorable condition of the road was discouraging tourists from travelling to the Mole National Park and other tourist spots such as the Larabaga Mosque and the mystic stone also at Larabaga.
He said in spite of the government’s efforts to promote tourism, tourists many a time were compelled to travel on tractors to reach these spots because commercial vehicles refused to ply the route due to the poor nature of the road.
Mr Issah, who said he was a regular traveller on the road, mentioned the Fufulso-Damongo portion of the road as the worst, which needed urgent rehabilitation.
He appealed to the West Gonja and Central Gonja district assemblies to pool resources to carry out minor rehabilitation work on the road as a temporary measure while awaiting a major rehabilitation by the government.
